Today I had the pleasure of meeting two dancers – Antonella and Katie. I’ve never met a dance major before so it was interesting to learn about their experiences and what sort of requirements a dance major needs. Both of them started dancing at a very young age (three and six years old respectively) and both specialized in ballet. Turns out that as a dance major, you can’t specify what type of dance you do and are required to do all sorts of different styles. They didn’t like modern dance as much because it was a little strange. To demonstrate just how different it was, they showed me a video of what seemed to the untrained eye a bunch of people just rolling around the floor. We even spoke about our fears of graduating and not knowing what we would do with our degrees, but they reassured me as they were firm believers of following you heart and letting it guide you. I have a great deal of respect for both of them for their dancing abilities and because they were just so nice!
